I checked for a root and found none, so you're right Tim 😀 I reversed it and buried the root, so I hope it will be growing downwards 😉

yes.......the first growth out of the Yucca seed is the root and perhaps a week later you will see signs of the first leaf.

Another one sprout and of course the root is upside down 😆

another root is going up? If that happens again don't touch it............i would like to see what happens. Do you have gravity in your area? 😆

Too late, Tim. When I spotted it, buried the root immediately. Next time I won't touch it and see what happens. Plates break to pieces when they touch the floor, so it seems I do have a gravity 😆

Buried the root, placed in a plastic cup and we have a tiny yucca! 😈

But what caused roots to grow UP?

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
I was hoping someone would explain it to me. It's a 2nd sprout of this species with roots upside down. Weird 😕

Someone will figure it out, marceli.
Reminds me of what happened to my unknown plant (yucca / agave ?)
From this photo, look at the bottom drain hole.
The tiny green shoot (which should be coming out the top as a pup) is growing DOWN.

Here's what it looked like when I separated it from the mother from the other pups:

The other pups were fine, coming out the top:

Weird, huh?

I would guess it was in a humid condition like under plastic? Because the air was high in humidity, the root grew up?
That's my theory. 😐

Hi Marceli,
yes the first leaf is just emerging now.........nice. I still don't know why the root was growing up..........very strange! 😕
Hi Barb,
that Agave/Furcraea is producing pups like crazy! 😯

Aaron, I've been using this method since forever and it never happened to me, in addition twice 😯

Not a bad guess Aaron, Ive had this happen to yucca, as well as some Canna and some others that have escaped my memory. I do remember that they were all not buried deeply enough, and were in a container with high humidity.

They weren't buried deeply - that's right.
