Here's my small area where I grow my Yuccas. The area they grow in has been raised with very sandy soil and is very free draining. The Yuccas were planted in May this year. some growing quickly particularly Yucca linearifolia which roots easily

So Individually Yucca Linearifolia "Galeana" a very fast growing yucca that gets BIG. Mine is still small at the moment but is already staring to pup.

Yucca Rigida... Starting to produce lots of new leaves

Yucca Faxoniana.... Another Yucca that producing lots of leaves. It had a lot root on it but got damaged removing it from the pot.

Yucca Queretaroensis... A beautiful yucca that is well sought after in Europe. Not moved much since planting 😕

Yucca Rostrata "cillo valle" This yucca has hardly moved and had no roots whenit came out of the pot.

Yucca Thompsoniana.. A triple head... beautiful yucca that growing well

More to come 😀

This is the yucca I have seen sold in the US as linearifolia.

I bought one and it was not very hardy here. 🙂

I am trying some Nolinas this year also. These are not trunked but small plants collected from seed by Nick Macer of Pan Global Plants germinated and grown on at his Nursery
Nolina Durangensis... Looks a beauty and ready to grow up nicely. The seed was collected at 2500mt on the puerto el Espinazo del Diablo on the border of Durango state.

Nolina Nelsoni ... Another beauty showing those curved juvenile leaves, the seed was collected at Tamaulipas, Mexico

Nolina Matapensis.... This is the star of the show for me... pure spikey and blue too 8)

Nolina Parvifolia.... The smallest of my Nolinas and will probably need extra protection Seed collected at 2400Mt at Puebla State.

😀

Aaron... For me they are easily distinguishable as Linearifolia has flat wider leaves that do not break when bent, whereas Queretaroensis has square leaves Similar to Dasylirion Quadrangulatum that break easily when bent. I'm guessing this Yucca may be the most tender of the bunch.
Glad you like them 😀

Sure they are easy too distinguish from each other, they don't look anything alike. But before I knew Y. linearifolia was just a thin leafed rostrata, and was shipped a Y. quadrangulatum. It took me awhile to understand why mine look different. Becuase as far as I knew (becuase I was shipped one that was miss labeled) Y. linearifolia had a four sided leaf. And thanks too you I now know what plant I had.
Until now I thought I had a Nolina or a Dasylirion sp. 😆

Andy,
Those yucca photos took my breath away, especially the three-headed one.

One of my 6 yucca rostrata "sapphire skies" seedlings was two-headed.
Never grew as well as its siblings; finally succumbed this spring.

Thanks for all your kind comments... I will be roofing the whole area soon. Yesterday we had an enormous amount of rain that easily filled up 4 x50 gallon water butts. I desperately need Hardy jims heat to dry everything out 😯

I've considered that for my 15 acres. 😉

With your frequent rains Andy, what a great idea.
Please take pics of your project.

I have finally finished roofing my small yucca border. To be honest its been a nightmare and at nigh on 60 years of age not to be repeated 😆
I guess that its about 200 sq ft I've covered and not before time as although the soil is raised it is still saturated after all the rain we have had recently and more to come this week!!

I have a few palms to cover before the onset of Winter but compared to this project they'll be a walk in the park.
