hope my yucca faxon makes it through
It simply MUST, Aaron, it's soooooo nice.
Have you considered a "teepee" made of 3 of those steel fence posts?
They're fairly long.
Just pound them into the ground on an angle with a sledgehammer, tie/tape the post-tops together.
An inverted yogurt container keeps plastic cover from tearing on the steel ends.
And...just for "insurance", might be an idea to have some old blankets ready to throw over the plastic cover when severe cold is forecast.

You just might talk me into it. At the least I will cover it on real cold nights with a blanket. It might just be too big to fail! 😆

I was looking at it tonight and it might take more cover than I got. It grew much bigger than I thought it would this summer. I was planning that this year would be last year it was covered. I bet it gets covered. Can you tell I'm torn about this small decision. 😆

torn about this small decision
Yes, Aaron, but just in case winter's not kind...certainly not worth the risk.
Even a big cardboard box--stored somewhere, ready to be inverted over it--could help it get through a bad few nights.
Until GW really arrives for our winters. 😆 😆
You're not the only one agonizing...I haven't even begun to plan for my palm "igloos"...last year's cages are now too small. 😡

it does look a bit damaged..............how does the trunk feel? I hope the trunk has no soft spots. 😕

Does it have two heads? It seems so when look at a closeup pic...

The green bush is Curlleaf mountain mahogany (Cercocarpus ledifolius)
Yes, you are right the faxon has more than one head, it has three. 😀

The trunk feels fine, but I'm wondering if I should cut the leaves off later before they start to rot. May be after it warm up more. Sometime I think if I just leave it alone would be best, but I want to doctor it. 😆

I'd let the Fax be..............don't rip off the leaves............I think I damaged my Y. schottii trunk doing that. 😥
