Fast poppers...this after 8 days.
Sorry about fuzzy pic...growing too fast 😉

Considering I wanted ONE, anybody else want one or two this spring?
Here's mature pics:

Despite what the site says, seeds do NOT need to be scarified.

Igor, glad you got some of Aaron's seeds too.

These were some of the easiest seeds I've ever tried...4 days in a warm room.
Mine are in the warm basement, near woodstove.
Warm water spray twice a day to soften the seed coat worked well.

I've got the "red/blue light" box suspended a few inches above them.

Believe or not, I have the same conditions for my future seedlings. Look at this beauty - I've never expected seeing the Water hyacinth blooming in November!

Barb they look great congrats. My two cents. The led light you are using tends to make plants stretch to the light. You might want to add a small fan to strengthen the trunks. I`ll give Aarons seeds another try. Did you soak them before or just sprayed them to have them pop?

Igor,

Water hyacinth blooming in November

That is gorgeous, Igor.
I had water hyacinths in my fish pond, never saw a flower.
Maybe the fish ate them overnight.

Did you soak them before or just sprayed them to have them pop?

No scarification.
No soaking at all, just dropped them ONTO soil, pressed only hard enough to make contact with soil (didn't cover them with soil).
Mist with warm water 2x a day, cover with a plastic bag so seeds don't dry out.
Once they pop, bag comes off.

Re LED light making plants stretch...so what do I replace the light with?
Just a CFL?
Or maybe we'll get a trunk sooner with LEDs 😆 😆

Sheesh...if everyone has Aaron's sotol seeds, what the (!@#$%^&*%$%) am I going to do with all these? 😯

Barb you don`t have to replace the LED light. The light should be about 2 ft. above the seedlings. The small desk fan will help the trunks not become "leggy" and weak.

cool Barb! I've killed all the Dasylirion I've tried.....and all in their first winter. seems like they don't like cold + moisture. Keep the winter rain/snow off them!

Could it be that they should be planted out when they're older?
say, 2 or 3 year old plants?

Yes, apparently moisture is lethal, other than sparse summer rains.
Some websites say young plants respond well to quite a bit of water (first few years anyway).

I'll find a way of getting some to you next year, Tim. 😉
Would 20 or 30 be enough? 😆 😆

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Hey Barb,

I started with Dasylirion wheeleri seeds from the begining of December.
Now, I've got something like this in picture below - and I don't know is it a Dasylirion?
Can you help me?

Keep exoting!
Godfryd
