There s few palms without their protection. They re all looks good :D ....but on one Trachycarpus who is been on ground since 2011, i found a mouse nidification Under the wrapping and the mouse ate almost all the leaves  ...first time i see that. On the first pic ! But the palm will survive...

I use an Ayrfoil ( insulation roll used for heatwater reservoir), arbotez and tarp. Easyheat cable for warming the palm. It has is own thermostat set at +3c. One 12 foot on the ground and another one around the trunck and foliage. 2 feets of cable per one feet of palm tall, exemple : Trachycarpus 8 foots tall need 15-16 foots heat cable.

Beny, great results. The problem I have with heat cable is that I can not see if they are working or not during the winter. Something like schrodinger's cat, it can be both dead or alive till you open it in the spring. Do you still leave an opening at the top and one at the bottom?

Yes Tavi, i leave 2 small opening. Im agree with you about the heatcable. Some customers told me the same thing. Thats why i will put a LED light pluged into the wrapping next winter. It will be always on when there s electricity in the protection. That will not tell you if the cable works but that type of cable dont fail when it is correctly installed. The thing is to do not overcross it to prevent overheat of the tape !
