In my garden, the first yucca to show good spring growth is the Joshua trees.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Gorgeous!
I would say the Y.Aloifolia grows first but I hacked them down last year so it will be a while!

If you attempt hybrids with brevifolia you'll be a hero forever!
I don't know if they ever really stop growing around here, but the one that I notice moving most quickly in spring is Y. glauca/

If mine ever blooms, I will send some pollen to Tim or anyone else that wants some. Than we will see what happens!Paul Ont wrote:If you attempt hybrids with brevifolia you'll be a hero forever!
I think the reason there is no brevifolia hybrids is because it blooms so early compared to other yuccas.

I took a few shots of the Yuccas which break dormancy first in my climate.........many are just starting to break.....not very noticeable except for these:
Yucca flaccida x 'reverchonii-thompsoniana'

Yucca filamentosa x rostrata

Yucca cernua
