I found a partially germinated Attelea cohune seed in my luggage as I unpacked. I sprayed it with fungicide, then set it on potting soil in a clay pot. Placed that over a plastic tray, watered. I have it on the fireplace mantle now to stay warm.
Photo as I potted it, with a US quarter for size:

Now that's a seed!

Keep the updates coming on that seedling.

Will do.
The cohune palm is one of my favorites. Very neat: http://www.floridata.com/ref/a/atta_coh.cfm

Will obviously always live in a pot in Oklahoma, but if I ever move to Texas I'd try it in the ground, protected if in Dallas but should be OK in Houston except in rare cold events. :D

How exciting, Erik!

Can't wait to see what a young Attalea looks like.
Because soon afterward = 17 foot long fronds.

Please photograph all the stages...
