Looks like the high temps may have effected the fruiting process but another one is flowering now.

Thanks

The palms are doing great but some burnt leaves
on the Thai giant and ferns, just to hot some of those days.
I think the first bloom on the Banana plant cooked when it hit
106F,I don't think it is opening anymore.
May have to cut it where the fruit ends on it,the other
one is fine so far.
Thai giant has an enormous leaf on it but the last one it
put out is a little toasty.
Basjoos are a little fried looking too,as well as the Abyssinian-
not to bad on the Ab though.

So in countries where bananas are produced, the humidity likely dispels some of the heat...
either that or they never get to 106F
Glad the palms are doing great...those Washys especially love the heat.
I doubt my Trachy would survive 106...

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.

Barb,
Bananas grow in tropical countries like Belize where 106 F is unheard of. I follow weather in Belize and it has not hit even 90 F for several days; it got to 100 F for a bit in May and everyone complained.
Jim, glad the palms are alright. Mine are fine as well and yes, Washy dig the heat!

There are huge banana crop fields along the Dead Sea shore in Jordan. There was 43 C last May when I were there. Just imagine what a temperature is in July-August there!lucky1 wrote:So in countries where bananas are produced, the humidity likely dispels some of the heat...

Yea,the Washys,Chammys,Bizzy's are very happy.
I think though, that the cactus could use a drink!
The temps in the Cactus area have hit 118F because of
the sand and rock there, good way of showing how topography
makes a difference in the heat!
Not to mention(although I will )how a dry surface helps the
temps over it warm.
This is why 100 was about as warm as you will see with 80F
dewpoints...just to much water to heat in the air.
I was surprised to see when we did hit 106F that the dewpoint
had dropped to 65F,it seems some of the core of the heat was
pinned/pulled up against and approaching cold front......
not much of one though, still 95 the next day.
