Hi all
Looking for some advise on sprouting a coconut. A friend just brought me back a coconut from Mexico. It's is still green and a little bit brown. Do I have to wait for it to turn brown before planting? What I've read on the internet says it can't be green. Is this true? Will it turn brown? I thought I remember seeing them growing from green ones in the Dominican Republic years back. I really want to grow this correctly.
Any adivse would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Mark

Hi Mark,
Did your friend say he picked it or got it off the ground?
If he got it off the ground, you have a better chance in getting it to pop!
You got nothing to lose either way.

Off the ground. Said there was both green and brown ones and thought the green one was better.
I'm just not sure if I should soak and plant it, wait for it to turn brown and try the same. Currently its sitting on my water bed keeping warm cause I wasn't sure if I should plant it right away. Guess I will.
Thanks Mark

Shake it
Shake it if you hear water inside, your good to go,if it was on the ground more likely it fell on it's on,it needs the liquid on the inside for germination to take place.
The outside husk is still on it,you'll be just fine.
Keep it in the most warmest and humid place you have, keep the soil just moist and not wet,too wet and it will rot.
Good take as long as a year,to pop.
