Cycas Taitungensis x Panzhihuensis

Post by taylor » Sun Feb 17, 2008 11:23 am

Hey everyone,
I got this from Bob Chumley as most of you know, I am going to germinate it using the Aquarium method! This is the first ever batch of seed of this made and I have been given the honor to germinate one to keep. Wish me luck! :) And sorry about the extra large pictures. :?

This is the bag and label that the seed came in.

Added a little bit more water to keep the perlite moist during the germination process. Added seed (finally)!

Here she is, staying warm and moist along with some Guiz x Tait seeds that I am just trying to get going again (stopped due to shipping...)

Thanks for looking, I will update y'all with its progress! (CROSS YOUR FINGERS!)
Please don't ask him for one as he has limited supply and he can not get rid of anymore, and they are not for sale either. Sorry :(

FINALLY!!!!!!! After how many months?

Checked it today...cracked! Hoping for a nice green radicle to emerge. Unless its a weird mutant albino like or I drop it and it breaks, I think I am in the free and clear to say I have germinated my ONE chance at having this plant that there are only a few seeds of in existance, all of which belong to Robert Chumley, and 1 to I (as far as I know...might have changed). I only kept up with the heat for about a month...then let it go unheated, and even forgot about it during school. Now, I have taken the Ziploc container outside after washing off the seed, and will let it sit out of the sun in the 80 degree weather.

Any advice?

Enjoy!

Taylor, what a great idea for maintaining a constant germination temp :D
cycad seeds I left in the container until a sprout showed
me too. Had great success with Cycas debaoensis with that technique. Didn't want to disturb them too soon.

It'll be good to watch this develop.
Thanks for the pics Taylor.
