Palm Trivia -- did you know?

the highest elevation a palm grows? 10,000 feet.
It's a Ceroxylon parvifrons (Ramo Palm)

I wonder why it has not been tried hewre in the PNW?
Does anyone have any experience with this palm?

Very cool palm,thought it would be more cold hardy,guess I won't be growing one in Iowa :lol:

It is being grown in the San Fran area-
Generally begin to suffer at temps above 80F
Did you know it not only grows at the highest elevation 10,000'+
but it is also the tallest palm in the world-up to 200'+

The scarier thing is its hardy to zone 9A. The climate up there is that warm (possibly a very warm 8B)

I had no idea they were that cold tolerant. Doesn't do me much good, but interesting.

You must've been dreaming of one of your enclosures... :lol: :lol:

MDF (now ready to fall apart after 2 winters), with green paint slapped on haphazardly.
but no tiles.
