After recieving palms from another Kansasan, my collection went from 2 to 11 for a total of 9 species.
After looking up all the names on google to figure out exactly what I now have I had to go buy a larger
specimen of one that I was sent to show the little guys what they had to aim for

, but the real killer
was it was just shy of $50.

The plant and pot stand about 8' to the tallest leaf. Now I just need to get a nice pot.

I bought it at Family Tree Nursery in Overland Park Map
I didn't see another one of these with a sale tag, but they had a Foxtail Palm on sale, but it looked a little rough. The also had a few Spindle palms for $40 but they were closer to 3'-4' with the pot. I really like this nursery, great plants, but you have to look for sale items if your cheap like me. They also had some huge Sago's but they want $250 for the one I looked at. I will try and take a camera next time I go, but I usally on get there once every 6 months.

As for the snake hunting, I can't this weekend, I will be heading to Wichita.

I stop by there once a month (or so) when I'm out on calls. It is a great place , but they are very pricey. Every now and then they'll put a palm on a closeoput price and you can pick up a great deal, and that, my friend, looks like a good deal.I have not been there for a few motnhs, looks like a should stop by more often.

Suburban Lawn and Garden at 135th and State Line has a nice selection of palms sometimes, but most everything (even small stuff) is over $200 per palm. High priced for sure.

Thanks guys,

I hate paying $$$ for plants, but figure you have to sometimes to get what you want.
I like to visit the nurserys just to see the plants, and try and keep from bring a lot of things home.
Suburban has nice prices on the larger trees, I have been wanting to head out that way again to look for some nice pines to help kill the wind across my back yard.

Is there any possible way either of you could take a pic of the Spindle or FoxTail that BGreen spoke of??? If they are worth the $$, I will make a trip down to buy. Don't know if they would let you take a pic or not.

well I stopped by the nursery today after lunch and took a few pics for you wes- following are pics of a spindle (pic 1) and a triangle (pic 2) they have for sale. Both are probably 3 over foot tall and both look good.

I think the spindle was $39.99 and the triangle was $69.99 but you can call Family Tree Nursery 913 642 6503
to verify. I did not see a foxtail.

They have a pretty decent selection of palms in right now, ie. nice sized majesty's, kentias and some bamboo palm, a couple of nice sized mediterranean fan palm, a phoenix roebillini (maybe 6' tall for $200). Thats about all I remember

Well I had to go to a greenhouse in Lawrence to see what they had.. found some nice things and some expensive things:

Queen palms 10' - 16' $50 to $75 each
Zamia furfuracea $30-$35
Adonidia 3'-4' $35
Trachycarpus fourtunei about 12" of trunk $100
Very large Rhapis excelsa $40
and a 9'-10' Spindle palm for $180

I stopped by Sunrise Greenhouse maybe 2 months ago and they had very few palms, nothing liek the selection you are showing. I didn't ask anyone for palm trees I was just wasting time before a call and just wandered through. I guess I may have to go back just to check it out. Thanks for the pics Ben.
