Hi Aaron, on the first pic the purple/pink flowers I'm guessing are liatris but what species? I have liatris spicata similar in colour and also white but mine already faded a long time ago :)
thanks for sharing!

Wow, Aaron, you've done so much to transform your place.
Incredible beauty, love the paths and rock berms.
Silver/blue plants look so beautiful with rocks.

Good idea to prune those trees so they show more of the landscape.

Your daughter is growing up fast, lovely girl.
Now go get her that saguaro.

Awesome collection of cold hardy plants. How long did it take your Echinocereus to clump to that size?

Thanks you. :D

The Echinocereus clump fairly fast for me, about five years or so. When they start getting big here they get mealy bugs over the winter and start to die. It's too bad because I would have had so huge clumps by now. :x

Thanks as always for the encouraging words. I'm getting a little closer to having the hardscape in. I only have 12 years left before I retire, so I better hurry!

I can't wait to take my little one south to see a real saguaro, she will be amazed. She absolutely loves cactus! and loves to eat cactus fruit. :D

In the meantime, your saguaro photos will do.
And it's about time for another trip to your retirement property.
Lots to look forward to.

12 years...then you'll have endless project hours and days.

I just got back a couple of months ago, had a bunch of fun!

Yep! Lots of time for projects, but I think I will be working on few places down south. Fix-up a few homes, maybe flip a couple? :D

If anything is going to hurt it the moisture will. I think it's going to OK, it is the hardiest agave I have seen.

Love seeing the updates on your yuccas but I remember from an old post that you had 4 baccatas with awesome trunks but on this update I could only see 1 baccata with a trunk , is it the only one remaining from that group??
Thanks for sharing your pictures, always appreciated :)

Aaron: your neomexicanas look like giants compared to mine! It's due to high precipitation in my area, I guess.

You are right, there was 4 nice little trunks on the baccata, but over time they died one by one. This has been a learning experience for me. It kind of showed that yuccas do not like excessive trimming. I'm not against trimming, but not a big fan of it even though I do like the way it looks. In this case I had no choice but to try and trim because it was to close to the walk (moved the walk after I planted it.) I plan on moving that baccata later to a better spot. I think if that baccata was a form like what I have down in AZ I think the trimming would not have hurt it. Sense they a more up right leaf and seem to trunk on their own.

Thanks, they took many years to look like that, I'm sure in time they will clump huge. If they don't, could be the soil or like you said the precipitation.

The soil is almost pure sand (must be kinda acidic because conifers love it) plus some added stones for drainage. Speaking of precipitation take a look: http://www.worldweatheronline.com/Plock ... s//PL.aspx
