adonidia palm tree
Just got myself a double adonidia palm tree (pictures to follow). It's in a 12" pot, probably from Florida. Anybody has any experience with it? Can I move it to a bigger pot and most important, can I separate them?

I've had marginal luck with mine indoors. Good luck with yours!

so far I split them in 2 parts and they are OK. They opened one frond. But they are outside and the weather is very nice (for them); hot and humid

Mine last winter (2, triples) didn't like being inside and it's funny to see them listed online to buy as a good inside palm lol

None of my seedlings made it indoors.
Good luck with yours.

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.

this winter I took 2 palms inside my office (close to a window but no sun from December to March). A bottle palm and a spindle palm. From what I read, I understood that I have to keep them wet. The spindle palm is outside now and it grew a lot, the bottle palm died rotten.
Which way it is with adonidia?

I have had decent success with my adonidia palms inside for winter. seems like the smaller ones adapt better to being indoors. once they reach a certain size ( maybe 5-6 feet tall) they are harder to care for and need more sunlight. best of luck to you and your adonidias.

My experience....
Have killed two nice Spindle Palms from over watering. On my 3rd now(a triple) and only water it like every 2/3 weeks(it's inside) and doing fine.
Bottle Palm in pic...also always inside and going on 2nd year with me in East facing window(was outside in pic to hose house dust off) This thing grows like crazy!
and likes to be watered at least once a week, sometimes twice even in winter. Funny how palms can be so different for different people.

Thanks Barb. I really do like it and happy that it grows so fast for me.
Have a friend that has one a bit bigger that she wanted to give me for FREE, but just can't have another BIG palm like that in the house and since it isn't cold hardy at all I know it would just die in the garage over the winter. A real shame to let something like that go.
