New palms arrived a bit late?

Post by BrugsBunny » Fri May 31, 2013 7:07 pm

Yes my new palms showed up 1.5 weeks ago!
They have been in a green house most all their life. So I have been acclimating them to the outside weather and sun. However the sun has been hindered by the crappy rain and cold we have had.

Just wondering is it starting to get too late to get these palms in the ground.

I have the following:

Sylvester Date Palm
Trachycarpus Fortunei

I dont think its ever too late. I planted some Windmill palms last year in November and didnt protect them and they made it throught winter with snow and freezing temps like a champ. They looked flawless in the spring

IF this were late fall it would be too late. IT seems the further north you push them, the earlier time you should plant them. Since its hot down there atm, make sure they get plenty of water, and are in fast draining soil.

Good luck!
