What is that, like a zone 8b. My nieghbors in AZ have already been down to 16F and they don't even cover their palms.lucky1 wrote:-10C (14F) on January 2nd![]()

I hate the difference that 5 miles makes.only got to -5 or -6C. What is that, like a zone 8b.
Wow, i havnt been that cold yet. Nothing below -17C (way west of me) and one station reported -23C (even further away from the lake than the airport). Im closer to the lake, which moderates the temps, so i could be a bit warmer then -17.Beny wrote:I had a low of -27c in the night 3 days ago. .temp. probe in palm box and mummywrap indicated +2c

I hope you don't, that might put us down here in another cold spell.lucky1 wrote:

It was -23c in Montreal 30km away. The probe thermometer is located near the foliage, the ground not suppose to freeze. I installed a heat cable with is own thermostat on the ground. But now, i cant verify cause there s to much snow. Before getting all that snow, the ground was frozen everywhere but not at the feet of the palms. I will post new video on youtube soon. Ill open up the mummywrap this week, the forecast say a high of 0-2c all the week.canadianplant wrote:Wow, i havnt been that cold yet. Its good to know that your huts stayed that warm. Is the thermometer in the palm frond or on the ground?
So true! I think we are going to have one or two days above freezing then below freezing.TimMAz6 wrote:Hi Aaron,
your gonna be cold since we are gonna be warm this week!
Worst I've seen forecast is -4C which is a joke when temps are just a few degrees above zero during the day. After today no more rain is forecast for the foreseeable future just lots of sunshineTimMAz6 wrote:how cold are you going to get Andy??
Belive it or not, as much as I hate January I am glad it is here. That way I can get it over! Only one more crappy month to go!TimMAz6 wrote:hopefully in one month it will be getting warmer!!

Haha! Beat you 0.4C Adam!seedscanada wrote:-8c on january 1 2013 was our coldest cold. That's like 8b.
Kingston was colder then me paul, if only by 2 degrees!Paul Ont wrote:I always find march the worst! It just seems to drag on without extreme lows, but no real warmth (usually).
Low to date is -7.6C for Toronto (18F); -19.5c for Kingston (-3.5F). My garden would have hit below -20C in that event though.
Yea, march can be a hard month to live through.Paul Ont wrote:I always find march the worst! It just seems to drag on without extreme lows, but no real warmth (usually).
That is true, I can handle feb. better than Jan. And most of the time I can start taken down the winter protection.hardyjim wrote: The sun angle by late Feb is also high enough that the soil begins to warm if the temps do-
I really look forward to this because generally,if it is warm enough to pull the mulch back
and lift the protection-the (bigger Trachys),Sabals and Needles can be let loose again!

Same here, Aaron.here over the decades here is much warmer falls, but our springs seems to be windy and colder.
