Best indoor palm of very low light??

Have a upstairs full of Palms, and basement is bare of them. Only have 2 windows that face the North, so light is limited other than ceiling can lights and only when were down there.

Is there any palms that members can attest to than have proven to live in low light conditions?? currently, just have a couple of Snake plants down there.

Many of the Chamaedorea species (radicalis, etc) are understory palms, and can do well in low lighting conditions. Some Dypsis species might be suitable as well, among others.

I've got a Bamboo Palm (Chamaedorea seifreizii).
Loves a shady spot all day long in summer.

Can take a darkish corner in winter with no adverse effects.
But in a basement with only 2 North facing windows, how about putting a grow light above it on a timer?
I think your basement might be too dark, unless you're down there a lot.

It should work, it's Chamaedorea seifrizii. There's also C. microspadix, C. radicalis, etc. Dypsis lutescens is fairly common too, and should do well in shade.

Am in the winter Barb.

Bamboo's are easy to get here so thought of them specifically.

I'm awash in Spindle palms now, but not sure how one of them would like being down here with little light.

Spindle palm (Hyophorbe verschafeltii) needs more light than Bamboo Palm.
Bamboo is a clumping palm. Mine flowers 2 or 3 times a year, great low maintenance palm.

Spindles won't like a North window.

I peel off the stem's papery bark, exposing the bamboo cane look.

This really should be my last palm I buy for the time being.....but only had one left at the lowest price of the group

Well....I wouldn't mind a Triangle, but going to really hold off for now.

None will like the dark, so any would appreciate grow lights on timers down there.
Chameadorea radicalis takes more light than most of the genus. I have potted C. geonoformis and ernesti-augusti which grow in dark rainforests. I've seen these fishtail palms in the wild but don't have a decent photo because---they grow where it is too dark for photos. (Note to self: buy a real flash for camera--the built in flash doesn't do the job.)

All potted and it's new spot. All the shoots pretty much fell apart when I slid pot off of it, and the palm/cactus soil isn't the best for support so added a bamboo stick to help hold it all up while it grows into the soil and pot.

It will get light here, but never direct sun.

Scott, that zip tie is a tad tight...

The canes would still be supported with a tie 2 inches longer.

Doesn't ever need direct sun.

Just fixed.

I don't plan on leaving the zip tie on there very long. I hope the dirt settles around the roots and base and provide it's own stable base.
