Banana Joe,

Your place reminds me of cottage country in Northern Ontario, less of course the hardy tropicals...

It must look quite unique approaching your property from the water?

The closest your place comes to anything similiar that I have ever seen is "peidmount country", in North Carolina.

When I show this to folks down here in Ontario they either think I'm nuts or pulling their leg...

The flag says it all however...

Tropicals on the Rock

Post by banana joe » Tue Nov 14, 2006 4:50 pm

Thanks for posting Jay. Those Cordylines are not in my garden, but in another private SSI garden. They were planted in 1991 and you can see the Yuccas are ust coming into bloom. I think the lake country in Ontario would have much nicer fall coulur than here. I can see how this would look similar from pics. that I've seen. I have some T.fortunei x wagnerianus seeds I will harvest in January ready to ship when oreder come in. I also will be shipping bare root T.fortunei seedlings throughout North America. If you have achance ask Austin to post some pics. of the palms he grew with the hybrid seed he got from me. They have quite stiff fronds. We have a killer storm moving in tonight from the south west. It will bring heavy winds and lots of precip. It's a little breezy here now, but not to bad. We are very sheltered here, but the outer Islands may get nailed. By the way the otehr pics. that Jay posted of the Bananas and Eucs. are in my garden. Cheers, Joe

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Cordies

Post by banana joe » Wed Nov 15, 2006 7:09 am

Thanks Wes. They are growing in a friend's garden. They have a huge clump of bananas in the front garden. Those Cordies do just great despite all the salt spray and south easterlies. Last year the extremely high tides covered that entire area with salt water and seaweed, That was last January, it made the local news here. Cheers,Joe
