Does it cool off much at night?

We have had some pretty warm weather too. It hasn't got much cooler than 25C over night and we don't get much relief.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

heat wave

Post by macario » Tue Jul 25, 2006 12:05 pm

I was just curious. I am thankfull that I live in chicago. We are 750 ft above see level, no floods and no earth quakes or land slides or raging fires, we get no hurricanes no real power outages and because of the lake right here I dont think I have ever seen the water supply ever rationed off like I have heard of in other places. I was really ready to move and try another place but maybe I should just stay put? Is anyone out there feel the same way? We dont get nasty winters anymore like when I was a child. I think over wintering a palm here with a little effort each year is alot easier than replacing the whole palm after a huge natural disaster. What do you think?

I really want to move to miami florida but there is a huge amount of bad weather and crime. Here the winters have been get less harsh than before. 2 or 3 years ago the snow got up to a metre high. but now its only 10 to 15 cm. Last winter we had no snow for 2 winter months. Just alot of rain and flooding until march came.I rarely see power go out in my area. In april we had a very bad sqaull line with winds up to 100 mph and the power was still on. Our winter is a little bit to harsh for palms. When our climate warms up I will think its safe. We do not get very hot in my area. Record 41C
