Party in the palm garden

Post by TerdalFarm »

This short (~40 sec.) cell-phone video from this afternoon is not really focused on palms; it just shows scenes from my son's birthday party today. I add a link here mostly to keep the idea of us adding videos of our palm gardens going.

The story (for our purposes) is to show how a "palm garden" can also be an active garden. I had ~30 kids and ~20 parents + the usual animals all playing in my palm garden and loving it. No damage to plants or people.
The only palms that show up clearly are the Sabal mexicana and Sabal palmetto seen in second ~20. W makes a cameo in second ~42.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Hey Erik,
Only a video (albeit too darn short  ) can show surroundings in relation to the entire place, and that was appreciated.
Presume the barn is off to the left of the gate?
I'll view it a couple more times to see more.

You've achieved a great landscape around the pool, very inviting.
Fabulous to see the sabals swaying in the breeze.

Looks like everybody had a great time...without W having to resort to a tractor demo!
Just kidding!

If I had that many "people" around my palms...

I'd be in the funny house.

Jim, presume you won't be doing any garden tours of your place?

Maybe Jim will do a YouTube garden tour instead!
Seriously, it all went well. My main anxiety was my tiny Brahea. I had it in a pot for three years before planting it last April. While it looks good to me, it is rather tiny and easy for non-palmophiles to overlook. As patio furniture got moved around, a main traffic path formed spontaneously that took people right over it. Over and over. Amazingly, no one stepped on it! :D
Note to self: a needle palm would have been better there....

Jim,
I have an old camcorder but it is too hard to use. Your digital camera with video mode is the way to go.
