Cold Hardy Palm Sources on E-Bay and others

Post by Dion » Tue Apr 28, 2009 6:33 am

Note: I have also posted this post on the wanted section of this site. I have been accumulating cold hardy palm trees form E-bay all winter and I wanted to share my sources with all of you, all of the below sources ship on Mondays and/or Tuesday’s and I have always received them usually by Thursday, so here we go:
I will give the ebay store name in bold and a little about what they carry.

mlbnhl1003 I bought a really big (60") Queen palm, they carry mostly 3 gallon plants that are shipped in pots and most are less then $25 including shipping. They carry Livistonia chinensis (Chinese Fan palm), Phoenix Sylvester's, Windmill palms, Pindo Palms, European Fan Palms, Bottle Palms and Washingtonia's (robusta's)

brsinc2008 is the sister company of mlbnhl1003 and they carry a lot of the same palms around the same price.

Mb-Palms23 They carry a wide selection of 1 gallon palms like Trachy's, Waggy's, European Fan Palms, as well as more tropical palm trees they ship bare root so shipping is pretty cheap.

Macho liners sell decent sized bare root palms I purchased a really tall 1 gallon Trachy from them

The next four (4) sell mostly smaller bare root seedling but at a very decent price.
1) Coconut climber
2) PinkPalmed (I actually ordered 6 Queen seedlings and received 16)
3) Merseeco Seeds Seeds for sale (I purchased needle and pindo seedlings from them) They sell mostly seeds
4) My little plants I ordered some California fan Palms from them for cheap and they were about 18" to 22" tall

I have also bought some palm trees from a local source, for those in southern NJ or PA it is Triple Oaks nursery in Franklinville NJ, (www.tripleoaks.com)
They do not ship but if you live within range they have a pretty nice selection. They get most of their trees from Chilly Palm Tree Company in Charlotte NC (www.chillypalmtree.com). I also found a source online that I am going to be making an order from soon, hardy palm tree Farm, they are based in Plant City, Florida, (www.hardypalmtrees.com) their prices seem pretty decent, for instance they have a 7’ Butia (Pindo Palm) for $140 plus $70 shipping. When I make an order I will let you know.

I'd like to add an Ebay source. I recently replaced a 5-foot trachy in my yard with a much bigger one. It was a bummer to dig it up from the yard and pot it, but was well worth it because of what I got to replace it. I got a 7 1/2 footer with almost 4 feet of trunk, very thick trunk. Trunk is 10+ inches diameter. Stunning tree. This source sells them on Ebay occasionally, they are larger than the stock picture (email her, she will explain). $165 plus $65 shipping for about 5.5 to 6 feet with 2.5+ feet of thick trunk. I paid $190 plus $80 shipping for my bigger one, the box weighed 100 pounds, and it shipped bare-root except for a little damp peat moss wrapped in the root bag. I think I now have the largest in-ground trachy in Minnesota! Check this seller out, she is for real. She has a lot of other tropical trees as well. Ebay: Julia4537
