"most people prefer a single trunk"... isn't that funny. Here's me trying to train cotoneaster as Standards. Yet my Sago I'll let go wild with its pups hangin around like at the dog park  I've looked at Sago pics on Google Images, can't find even ONE where they've let it go wild. Than...

Yup, it's 6:30 a.m. and it snowed an inch. It's +1C. Supposed to get colder on Sunday. Poop. Cleaned out garden beds yesterday, the only thing growing is weeds. Barrie, if you've got rain/snow ... with your ocean influence, we'll stay cold. I miss seeing the Kwanzan (sp?) cherry trees in bloom this ...

Steve, sorry, thought I'd already replied. Thanks for that link. I've bookmarked it for when my pups get to be baseball size.

Ever seen a Sago where they DIDN'T cut them off? Wonder what it would look like.

Man oh man, they're predicting 90% chance of SNOW tonight and ALL DAY Friday. :(
After a 15C degree Monday, the last three days have been a cold north wind, barely made 7C (45F) yesterday.

I thought I was the only person who drove around with a shovel in their trunk. Good for you kansas! When I used to live in Vancouver, I'd go on a "plant hunt" on weekends. Especially when I saw an old house being torn down; there's always good pickin's (albeit some too big). And the contra...

Nice that they had all those colours in stock. The nursery was partly right. They should've said (because it's Edmonton), wait until early April to hack them down to the ground. They're probably worried people would cut them down in the Fall, which opens the canes to freezing right down through the ...

Thanks for that link...I see it's 24-7-8 with minors. I'll take a look around. Read somewhere here (I think) that the caudex should always be damp? Or did I get that wrong? Yes, that'll be a nice colour combination.
Strange that the nursery said to not hack 'em down late winter each year...Buddleia blossom only on new wood (unlike, say, forsythia that blossoms on 2 year wood).

Cymbidium needs repotting...

When I repot, should I cut off all these dead "things" that resemble bulbs
right at the soil level? or just leave' em on and they can be ugly in a new pot?
Thanks in advance. Barb

Jasmine are among the prettiest climbers. How tall does yours get by end of growing season?

Wonderful that you can grow them outside, Wes. I finally repotted my old neglected Calamondin "bush". There was almost no soil left in the pot, just roots, had to pull them away from the clay pot. These separated "twins" don't look good, but I was really gentle pulling them apart...
