Soil for Cycads

I was wondering what you all use for potting soil on Cycads :?: I have some Dioons and Zamias that seem to be staying to wet after recent rains. :oops: I'm thinking of adding more perlite to their soil. Is this is a good time of year or should I wait tell Spring?

Dean those should do very well for you in central Texas. They sure look like the W.filifera of the Sabal species.They have very similar characteristics except growth rates IMO. Hey Barb,

Did you think you had scale :?: In Canada, I amazed, it could happen though. Did you seperate the pup in the first photograph? I have a Sago that hasn't flushed this year either. Were they root bound? Sorry for so many questions I'm just curious. :P

I did fertilize on June 1 with a Jacks 20-20-20 water soluble fertilizer that has boron .02%, copper .05%, iron .10%, magnese .05%, molybdenum .0009% and zinc at .05%. sorry I did not mention that earlier. Kent, the roots did not fill out the entire pot, but they did have long roots. Yes, those are one-gallon pots. I'm hoping mine will survive outside here in zone 8b. I looked at a couple of sites and they said they were hardy to 8b, so. :wink:
