Temps have been around 85-90 for a while now. So it has been much warmer than usual however this tree came from Florida so it's used to that. Being a "desert palm" I was afraid I was over watering it.

Ok, I will keep an eye on it!
Thanks

It was in a corner of a greenhouse. There was sun but it was under one of those shade things. Like I said, the pot it was in was very very tiny for a tree this size. Also the dirty was dry as a bone. I had not been watered in a long time. I crushed up a palm spike and sprinkled it around the base an...

Hey Barb

It's a adonidia palm or a Christmas palm. It was severely neglected at the greenhouse I got it at. It's such a beautiful palm but it need lots of TLC. It is supposed to be much much greener and way more fronds. Maybe by the end of summer I will have it looking better!!!!

From what I have learned, you must plant the coconut with the stem facing up (the stem is where the coconut was attached to the tree) . Bury about half of the nut. keep it moist but not wet and always keep it warm..72+ degrees. It also takes a while. I bought I 5 foot coconut tree and it still had t...

Considering it is one of my favorite palms (always has been) and the fact that the local Ford dealership is willing to house it for the winter (3 story bay) I think it suits me just fine.

What a pain!! I may have to re-pot it. It's in a 16" pot so it's not huge. I will figure something out. Can you believe after weeks in the upper 20's we are expecting possible frost tonight? They up to 30 by weeks end!! Welcome to Ontario

Ants in my Bismarck? Help

I left my new Bismarck out on the grass for a few days in the warm sunlight. I went to put it in a larger pot and noticed that these little black (local) ants had taken up residence in the soil. I was surfing the web and found out that a little place called Oak Bay is Canada's palm tree capitol. I am sure everyone but me already knew this.
They are a Zone 8b - 9a...isn't that the same as Orlando??
