Thanks Nate.
I am going to try to wait another year and pick up a larger size the next time that I am in Las Vegas.

I'm glad that a lot of your cacti survived. It sucks that the bamboo died back to the ground. I hope that the rest of your Yucca come out of the snow okay. It is too bad about the Trachy. I hope that it pulls through. I finally got a look at all of my desert species. The Cylindropuntia Kleinea and W...

I still haven't figured out where I am going to put the seeds. My heated germination chamber is still full and the shelves in the basement are almost full. I also still have some salvia and dianthus to germinate and there isn't room for all of those seeds. Maybe next year I will cut back on germinat...

I have no idea how old they are. There is a couple of miles along Blue Diamond Road that has them about 200' apart on both sides of the Road. They start just on the Las Vegas side of Bonnie Springs Old Nevada and continue on until Red Rock Canyon. I'm hoping to go back next March around the 25th and...

Mine are still inside for some reason. I cut the dwarf cavendish and Raja Puri back to store over winter. They were brought out at the same time. This really sucks that Kelowna Barry couldn't get his order across the border. I had a hell of a time getting 2 yuccas and 2 agaves across the border when we came home from Las Vegas last night. My problem was not with the CBSA who were very helpful and let me have my plants on the honor system afte...

Pics from the Shelter
Attached are some pics from the shelter. The quality is not great but with brilliant sunshine behind me, it was hard to see what I was shooting. Chamaerops: the white areas are the sun and are about the same color as the green areas. http://www.postimage.org/aV4MoJ0.jpg yucca elephantiasis: same as ...

:D :D The worst is over and I opened the shelter for the first time to let some of the sun generated heat out. Most plants are fine. The Yucca e. that had some sickly leaves last fall has about half of them dead. The rest of the sickly leaves have recovered. Everything else looks a nice healthy gree...

I am looking at varieties of Sabal Minor including Louisiana and perhaps a McCurtain or other hardy variety. I will try not to buy a Nannorhops Ritchiana. My major purchases this year will be Cannas and Bananas as well as Z 7 vines for the shelter. I bought a couple of exotic plants and a Gard...

So far no one will be following up on her. Her file was closed about 8 months ago once she got out of Peace River jail and had finished her probation. The file cannot be reopened as she now lives in Edmonton. Edmonton office has so far refused to open a file. Situation normal here in Edmonton--drast...

My Grand Niece
After a lot of self questioning, I called Children's Services and reported what my grand niece had done. See Cold Hardy Palms section, topic-- Late winter check on cold building plants. Unfortunately after spending almost an hour on the phone with them, I was told 3 yr old girls do things like that ...
