It will probably be put on display at one of the casinos in Atlantic City or Las Vegas.

I wouldn't give much chance that it will end up back in North Dakota.

Darn it. I got the pics but Postimage.com isn't working. The Washingtonias have a small sign of life in the stalk. The Cycas Revoluta are fairly brown and appear to have sunburn. Most of them should survive. The Yucca elephantipes are sunburnt baddly and the Butia has several dried out/sunburnt fron...

Heating cost for the winter.

I finally got enough information to try to calculate the cost of keeping the shelter warm over the winter. Our electricity consumption increased by 192 kilowatt hours from the previous winter which cost about $30($13 +transmission & delivery). :D I figured--Yeah right-- So I started figuring out...

The milk carton would have a 'wall' between the stucco and the palm and would not be tight to the stucco. This would allow wind to carry the stucco's heat away. If you use the white translucent plastic jugs, they should work great as a sunshade in the spring when your palm is adjusting to full sun. ...

I learned this spring while I had the top open on the shelter and the heat cables turned off, that the reflected heat from the stucco wall of the house increased the temperature in the shelter by 5* to 20* depending on the number of hours of sun and the amount of cloud cover. That would be at least ...

I had hoped that I could put Sabal minors on the south side of my stucco house and overwinter them with only a layer of styrofoam on the front and roof and and plastic on the sides to provide some light. I don't know if it is good news, but the snow is supposed to stop today with just over a foot of snow. Places north and east of us got the worst of it. The last time that it was this bad was in 1929. We are forecast to break a record on Friday when the low gets to -14*C. We are also forecast to get 80 cm of snow by Friday before the temps get back to 0. I generally take forecasts with a grain of salt. Not after today. -10*C and winds gusting to 75 ...

I sure can't get them at Walmart, Home Depot or Canadian Tire here. At Elllersley Nursery we may be able to get them this summer but the cost will be way over $150.

I hope that it wasn't TYTY that sold them to you and you can get a partial refund.
