The first picture is the aloe ecklonis. I was using my cell phone so you cant really see the proper colour. The whole bottom half is still green and its been exposed for a week or two. I managed to get the nitida up here in the back of a truck. Its a 12 hour drive from toronto to here lol. Humber wa...

Some survivors
Just a few things that surprised me since the snow is finally melted.... Three potted plants seemed to have made it despite all odds. Aloe ecklonis, and my potted agave (either montana, perryii or utahensis). http://s7.postimg.org/eap7g3uav/IMG_20140426_140734.jpg http://s7.postimg.org/wozqk36lj/IMG...

Hey Paul... Considering the winter you had this year the damage so far isnt so bad. Quite a few of the large spruce and cedar trees here are a bit burnt but they almost always fully recover. The plus for me is the amount of snow on the ground. Most if not all of my sensitive plants are completely bu...

I never imagined baby rhodies looking so damn cool.... ALso just a heads up with the bamboo seedling. You will be surprised at how much the roots take up in the pot for the size of the plant. If its been in that pot for a few months you may wanna think of up sizing the pot, even if you plan on plant...

I tried these before with no luck (actually I think i dropped the container they were in lol). Im pretty sure they need to be surface sown, or at least covered lightly. They were pretty small seeds. The one thing ive wondered is if they need to be stratified. Most plants ive grown from seed that com...

Growing tree ferns from spore : Cyathea vieillardii
I decided to take the plunge and finally try tree ferns from spore. Generally speaking the process is straight forward; Make sure that everything is sterile and keep it warm and moist, then wait. I know it isnt quite that simple, but that seems to be a consensus from what I can read. The species I p...

Depends though barb. Gas is relatively cheap here compared to some places. 1.28, generally the same as down south round toronto.
