So, i was at Myirles today and saw the palm right there. I wanted one so I bought it and when i got it back home and realized I didn't really know anything about growing them. I had better luck with the cold hardy palms than tropical palms.

I've never done research on this but I too wait until they turn dark. Would be fun to find out if germination success differes between early/green and late/dark. All of potted palms died except the one my Brazoria Palmetto was the only survivor. All windmills died outside except for one lucky one. All sabal palms lived but still waiting on the Brazoria and other cabban palms.

Sorry to hear of the losses folks. I don't think anybody can trust their zones anymore. Everyone's had so many mild winters in a row. I have -12 (-24C) as a High and -14(-26) at night. On monday, and tusday back to 5 in the day and 5 at night thank you Allah. Howevery sunday night -13F (-25C). Dang it winter! am going to go play bass now.
