barb, you kept seeds too long in water. a month? 2 or 3 days in water are just fine.it grows in desert, too much water can kill it. dates are very easy to grow. just needs deeper pots (-as for the all other palms) to grow well,good drainage,full sun and not too much of water. this is very interestin...

here is my largest trachy fortunei wrapped inside "this". few lays of some cotton , looks like wool, in tube. then i put the nylon bag on it to protect it from rain,cold... simple as it looks.

from my experience and many others NYLON as protection for palms,yuccas..... is very bas solution. just nylon. the better way is to wrap the palms in some other material like cotton,old t-shirts,sheets.. just wrap it 3 or 4 times around the palm,and then you may put the nylon cover on that, to prote...

i dont have any of my own pics of terebinth pistachio. google it, it is the same look of the plant. looks like real one pistachio but smaller leaves, fruits.... i've read somewhere that the seeds of terebinth pistachio is sold in Turkey as a coffee. it has very interesting smell.
